Sol & The Sol Creech Band have performed on bills with New Orleans legend Walter Wolfman and the Roadmasters, the jam-band favorite Soulive, and with many Mid-Atlantic up-and-coming bands. In a years span, Sol and his band have performed at premier East Coast music festivals including Virginia’s Floydfest, North Carolina’s Shakori Hills Fest, Kinston NC Blues Fest, Washington DC’s Congressional Blues Fest, and Six Points Music Festival.
This weekend Sol performs on Friday September 19th at Blue 5, a premier nightclub located in downtown Roanoke, VA. This is the night before the Big Lick Blues Festival, featuring Shemekia Copeland, Jimmy Thackery, Ana Popovic and more. Blue 5 is becoming a hot spot in southwestern Virginia for national and regional touring bands.
On Sunday September 21st, Sol performs as part of Tarara Winery's Great Grape Wine Festival featuring the best in regional music and award-winning wines. Washington DC area favorite's Karl Stoll, Jah Works, Freddie Long, Sol, and Donegal X-Press will be the featured performers. There will be up to 50 food and craft vendors, grape stomping competitions, children’s activities, u-pick apples, hayrides through the vineyard and tours of the winemaker’s cave. Tarara's Wine Festival will be on Saturday September 20th and Sunday September 21st.
While touring through Virginia, Sol will be joined by drummer "King" George Penn, known for his work with reggae ambassadors Jah Works and underground funk group the Yams from Outer Space, and studio owner and session bassist Jake Dempsey.
In October, Sol performs as part of MusicMaker Revue in Columbia Missouri's Blues N Roots N BBQ Festival. This festival, only in it's second year, is already being heralded as one of the greats. Also in mid-Oct Sol tours in France and Germany with rhythm and blues legends Beverly "Guitar" Watkins and Albert White.
Sol and his band recently released their debut CD entitled "Freedom". The Music Director at WUVT stated: “The Sol Creech Band is excellent at morphing rock, blues, soul, and reggae, taking it all to a different level and evolving the styles into- quoting Sly Stone- “a whole new thing”. Freedom is a great example of this band’s music and a truly enjoyable listening experience”.
