Advance Business Systems of Cockeysville has been named one of the country’s Elite Dealers by OfficeDEALER Magazine for the 5th consecutive year. The award is presented annually by the magazine to the top office equipment, office products and office furniture dealers in the U.S. and is based on a company’s superior sales and marketing, dedication to customer service, community involvement and the ability to provide customers with unique and innovation solutions.
Advance was featured in the August issue OfficeDEALER magazine, a national publication that serves more than 13,000 subscribers involved in the reselling of office supplies, furniture and equipment.
“With our recent partnership with Canon, our expanded focus on electronic document management, and the tremendous success of our company sponsored employee wellness program, 2008 has been an exciting year for Advance,” says Advance Business Systems’ Chief Operating Officer, Jeff Elkin, “We are honored to have been named an Elite Dealer for the 5th consecutive year.”
In October, 2007 Advance made the decision to add Canon to its already robust line of office solutions products. The move, which positioned Advance as the only major independent reseller of Canon, the industry’s leading manufacturer, in the Baltimore marketplace, has also made Advance representative of the world’s top two office equipment brands, Canon and Savin/Ricoh.
Also in ’08, in an effort to help customers make the gradual transition to an electronic office, Advance began including its own document archiving software, ArchiveitMFP, with every multifunctional copier and printer. “We’ve found that ArchiveitMFP is a fantastic way for our customers to ‘get their feet wet’ in the world of electronic document management,” says Elkin. “It’s free of charge, and in its simplest form, customers can simply scan a document at the copier for later retrieval at their computer. This step alone typically adds significant productivity and efficiency to the work environment.”
As a company perk to its employees, Advance developed its first ever in-house employee wellness program in January. The free fitness program features weigh-ins, one-on-one consultations with corporate fitness consultants from LifeFXects Fitness Studio, and on-site exercise classes during the work day at the company’s Cockeysville headquarters. Since its inception in January, Advance employees have lost well over 300 pounds as well as drastically improved their overall health.
According to publisher Rich Kunkel, the 110 dealers presented with the prestigious 2008 Elite Dealer award were selected from a record number of entries. “It takes something special to stand out as an Elite independent dealer in 2008,” Kunkel said. “Among Elite Dealers, success is not about surviving; it’s about thriving - even in tough economic times.”
Privately owned and operated since 1964, Advance Business Systems is the leading independent document solutions provider in the metropolitan areas of Baltimore, Annapolis, Frederick, Hagerstown and Montgomery County. Advance provides custom solutions for electronic document management, networked digital copiers, printers, scanners, wide format equipment, fax solutions and paper shredders.
Advance has 175+ employees within its sales, service and administration divisions, and was recently named a finalist in the Baltimore Business Journal’s, “2008 Best Places to Work”—an award based on a voluntary employee survey.
With annual revenue approaching $40 million, Advance continues to receive national recognition for their commitment to providing outstanding service, as well as sales awards, from the existing manufacturers they represent: Savin, Ricoh, Canon, Konica Minolta, Muratec, Docuware, and KIP. Advance is a manufacturer’s certified service training center, one of the few in the entire U.S.
