Muirhead’s session, # V13543, will take place on Tuesday, September 16, at 3:00 pm PDT in Titan 2303.
During the session Muirhead will present a Tideway customer deployment and highlight their successful virtualization initiatives. He will discuss how the firm leveraged virtualization to build a MapQuest for their data center and offer tips based on this deployment for planning, tracking and managing virtualization initiatives. Muirhead will explore how critical it is for clients to be able to index and visualize virtual machines (VMs), map their dependencies to physical hosts and identify application components on a VM. Other panelists include the Windows System Manager from Johnson Controls and the Strategic Technical Architect from NetIQ.
Now in its fifth year, VMworld 2008 will take place September 15 – 18 and is the industry's leading virtualization event for all IT professionals looking for actionable ideas, innovative products and best practices for virtualizing the enterprise-- from the desktop to the datacenter.
For the last decade Muirhead has commercialized ways to make advanced data center management effective, efficient and fun. He co-founded Orchestream, which was acquired by Metasolv [NASDAQ: MSLV] in 2002 and it in turn by Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) in 2006. Muirhead was a finalist for the UK Technology Innovation & Growth Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2006. He is a regular speaker at industry events including SAP Virtualization Week, Gartner Data Center Conference, Next Generation Data Center Conference and Interop. Muirhead is frequently quoted in the press, a member of the Cambridge Computer Lab Ring and the IEEE and a participant in the IETF and TeleManagement Forums.
