ATEN International, leading designer and manufacturer of advanced connectivity solutions, today announced that it will showcase its innovative KVM, server room management, and HDMI video solutions at this year’s Computex trade show in Taipei (3–7 June 2008). The connectivity specialist will unveil the latest in enterprise KVM solutions including the world’s first LCD KVM switch with fingerprint recognition and various new Over-IP solutions, the next generation of its DVI KVMPTM (Peripheral) switches, its new KE8220 wireless presentation system, and brand new HDMI video switches and video splitters.
Confirming the growing concern about administration costs, server room savings and green IT, ATEN focuses on product innovations and unique technology features for efficient, cost-effective and state-of-the-art connectivity. To demonstrate first-hand the functionality of its products, ATEN will install live demo centers at its stand (Hall 1, Booth D202, D212, D301, D311). The demo sections will include:
Enterprise KVM Solutions
The CL5716, 16-Port PS/2-USB LCD KVMP™ Switch, is the world’s first LCD KVM switch to feature Fingerprint Recognition for enhanced data center security. It supports dual interface for both server and console, provides a hot-pluggable port for connecting an external USB mouse, and is also available in an 8-port model (CL5708).
The KL3116T, 16-Port Dual Rail Touch Screen KVMP Switch, is ATEN’s first LCD KVM switch to feature a touchscreen for control without drawing out the keyboard. It also supports USB peripherals for servers connected to the local station. KL3116T allows users to control up to 512 servers by daisy-chaining up to 31 additional KVM switches.
CN8000 KVM on the NET™ is an add-on remote server management solution which allows administrators to remotely access KVM switches and servers via LAN, WAN or the Internet. This advanced over-IP model features dual interface support for both server and console. With Virtual Media support, CN8000 enables users to remotely transfer out-of-band data through the connected switch to any server and perform diagnostic tests, download files, and install programs or operating system patches directly from a Virtual Media connection.
The KH2508 / KH2516 Cat 5 KVM Switch, a 2-console, 8/16-port Cat 5 KVM switch, features Virtual Media support and allows users to manage up to 512 servers, or 4096 servers when cascade. The Cat 5 cabling simplifies cable management and reduces space requirements in the server room.
The KN4132 KVM Over the NET is an IP-based Cat 5 KVM switch for flexible on-site and remote administration of multi-platform server farms. It allows one local and four remote administrators to access and control the connected servers.
SOHO KVM Solutions
The CS1732B / CS1734B, 2- and 4-port USB 2.0 KVMP™ Switches with OSD (On Screen Display), allow users to control up to four multiplatform computers from a single keyboard, monitor, and mouse, provide dual interface functionality for both PS/2 and USB environments, offer a built-in 2-port USB 2.0 hub for peripheral expansion, and feature audio ports for unlimited sound experience or IP telephony.
The CS1782 / CS1784, USB 2.0 DVI KVMP™ Switches, are Dual-Link DVI compatible. They combine a 2- or 4-port KVM switch with a 2-port USB 2.0 hub, and are fully compliant with the DVI-Digital and DVI-Analog specifications. The CS1782 supports 7.1 channel surround sound audio and allows users – especially PC gamers, audio and video enthusiasts – to share a Dual-Link DVI display, USB keyboard, mouse, and surround sound system between two computers.
Wireless Presentation System
The KE8220 Virtual VNC Console is a wireless presentation system that upgrades existing projectors and generates a wireless conference environment for multiple notebooks. In addition, the KE8220 provides remote access to any computer on the network via LAN, WAN or the internet, real-time display on a monitor or projector, and pushes presentations from remote computers to KE8220 for real-time meetings or trainings between local and remote locations.
For video solutions, ATEN will announce its latest HDMI video switches and video splitters now compatible with the HDMI 1.3b standard.
About KVM Switches – An Essential Server Management Device
A KVM (Keyboard, Video and Mouse) switch is an advanced, hardware-based solution that allows centralized access to multiple computers easily and conveniently from a single keyboard, monitor, and mouse. A KVM switch is useful in an extensive range of environments, suitable for SOHO users, small and medium businesses, and large corporations. Fundamentally, a KVM switch allows server rooms and data centers to optimize rack space in the IT environment, reducing costs and the clutter of keyboards, monitors and mice. Additional benefits include savings in energy consumption, server racks, cabinets, and floor space. Since a KVM switch provides access to a number of computers from a central location, IT professionals are no longer running from one server to the next, thereby streamlining workflow and increasing productivity. To meet the ever-developing needs of the globalized economy and the Internet, KVM solutions now have over-IP functionality for remote management capability that better fulfills the demands of corporations who need to manage multiple server rooms worldwide.
