Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP announces the addition of Elizabeth Hurst as a partner in its Environmental Group. She will practice in the firm’s Austin office and work closely with the Government Affairs Team.
Ms. Hurst joins Gardere from the Oklahoma City-based chemical company Tronox Inc., where she managed the litigation and environmental group as Assistant General Counsel.
“We are very excited to welcome Elizabeth to our firm,” says Gardere Managing Partner Steve Good. “She is an exceptional attorney and will be a great addition to the Austin office.”
Prior to her work at Tronox, Ms. Hurst worked with the United States Environmental Protection Agency in Dallas, before going into private practice and serving as the head of the environmental section at a national law firm. She earned her J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law.
“Elizabeth’s expertise in environmental issues is something that will be an ideal complement to the work the Government Affairs Group is currently doing in Austin,” says Kimberly Yelkin, the Executive Partner in Gardere’s Austin office. “Her addition will only help to further strengthen this office.”
Formed in 2002, Gardere’s Austin office has grown to become one of the most dynamic lobbying groups in the state. The Austin office was recognized by the San Antonio Express-News in 2006 as having the highest grossing law firm lobby group in Texas. The group also has been recognized among Texas’ top lobbying/regulatory firms by Texas Lawyer newspaper.
Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP, an AmLaw 200 firm, was founded in 1909 and is one of the Southwest’s largest full-service law firms. With offices in Austin, Dallas, Houston and Mexico City, Gardere provides legal services to private and public companies and individuals in areas of energy, litigation, corporate, tax, environmental, labor and employment, intellectual property and financial services.
