Translation and currency conversion features have been introduced at the CollectFair Internet Antiques Centre to drive international sales. Translation of item descriptions into 6 European languages and Japanese is now available, ensuring international buyers can read about the antiques and collectables more easily. Currency conversion rates can be displayed alongside items, automatically updated daily, providing buyers using 12 different currencies the prices in their own money.
Current economic conditions mean buyers in Europe and Japan are finding goods for sale in the UK more affordable than they were last year. Now is a great time for people in the UK to sell in these areas, but while it's easy to get your stock of treasure listed on the internet you still need to think about language and currency issues.
David Fletcher at CollectFair commented "Items for sale on the web can easily be viewed by overseas buyers, but there can be barriers preventing you making a sale. The translation of item descriptions and easy currency conversion removes some of these barriers, making it much easier for international browsers to buy."
The financial side of the transactions can be handled by PayPal which covers more than 190 countries. Even better, many items available in the UK are less often seen overseas, so even with shipping costs they can still be attractive to international buyers. CollectFair is a part of PicoPages Ltd, and was established in 2004 to develop a community of on-line "stalls" for people collecting, buying or selling antiques and collectables. In 2007 CollectFair developed the Collectables Map using the Google Maps system, and stock listing pages based on Microsoft Excel(R) format spreadsheets. In 2008 translation and currency conversion features have been added to support international trading.
CollectFair has no joining fee, and is free to visit and browse. "Guest" stalls are available to try out the system, with low start-up costs and a range of options for developing on-line antiques and collectables trade. There are no fees to pay for buying or selling items.
