Report Buyer has added a new report which finds that consumers in the U.S and Europe are increasingly buying premium products off-the shelf to answer their personal care needs, rather than turn to minor cosmetic surgery.

The report, “Professional & Expert Personal & Oral Care Solutions-Future Trends & Perspectives” finds that scarcity of time, coupled with people wanting to spend more time at home, is influencing consumers to seek non-invasive alternatives to surgery from stores.

Analysts say that personal appearance is now a major concern for consumers and is associated with well-being. They say that while cosmetic surgery is on the rise, it remains inconvenient and expensive, and consumers will continue seek out viable alternatives. For instance, Strivectin, an anti-stretch mark and anti-wrinkle cream, Glamotox, an intensive moisturiser to help relax expression lines and fill wrinkles or home tooth whitening kits have become extremely popular.

They also point out that although consumer affluence is rising, it often comes at the expense of spare time. Consequently, more effective home use products are increasingly sought, with consumers willing to trade-up to premium products, particularly if they offer convenience benefits.

Authors of the report analyse the reasons for the trend catching on and the shift towards these products in the U.S and Europe. They say that premium products that are positioned as ‘professional’ must be able to provide added benefits when compared to a mass distribution brand. They say that this is because consumers are now more likely to conduct research before making a purchase.
