Wil Riley, REALTOR with Century 21 Properties Plus was installed as President of the Charleston Trident Association of REALTORS® at the CTAR annual Holiday Gala and will lead the association beginning January 2008.
“One of my goals as President of CTAR is to increase awareness of the impact CTAR and its REALTORS® have on the community.” said Riley, who has served the association as a committee member, committee vice-chair, committee chair, grievance committee member, Director, Vice President for Finance, Vice President for Administration, President-elect and now as President since becoming a member in 1997.
“We believe in giving back to this community that has given us all so much.”
“REALTORS® are mentors in our schools; serving on the Education Foundation Board of Directors with the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce; serving on the board of Directors for the Charleston Regional Development Alliance; volunteers for My Sister’s House, Catholic Charities, Meals on Wheels, Christmas Commandos, Habitat for Humanity, local hospitals, and the list is endless.” said Riley. “REALTORS® strive to preserve the quality of life we all enjoy here in the Lowcountry, but not at the expense of personal property rights.”
Riley is very aware of the current trends in real estate and understands the concerns of the public. “When buyers hear home prices are falling, it makes them think twice about buying. Their hesitation causes inventories to grow, which, in turn, causes prices to fall.” He believes that “some homeowners might reconsider putting their homes in the market until the market rebounds.”
“However, now is a great time to buy—inventories and seller incentives are high, while interest rates and prices are low. When the buyers come back into the market, the inventories will decrease. Many buyers will wait too long and miss out on this fantastic opportunity. Smart buyers will begin to act after the first of the year. Others will soon follow and the market will begin its rebound.”
“We are looking forward to those smart buyers beginning to emerge.” He also sees that sellers are becoming more realistic with regard to pricing.
“We have some challenges ahead of us but we are going to have a banner year,” said Riley. “I am honored to serve as the President of Charleston Trident Association of REALTORS®. I am fortunate to have the support of a great leadership team and phenomenal association staff and I am looking forward to working with them as President in 2008.”
