Buffalo Exchange announces the opening of its first store in New York City at 504 Driggs Avenue (at N. 9th Street, L train’s Bedford stop), Brooklyn, NY 11211, telephone 718-384-6901, on December 15, 2005. The Williamsburg location is between the Midtown tunnel and Williamsburg Bridge. Store hours will be Monday-Saturday 11–7, Sunday 12–6.
The space, located at a newly renovated 100-year-old factory building in the northside of Williamsburg, was secured by Buffalo Exchange on August 23. Buffalo Exchange will use 4,175 square feet at street level.
The Brooklyn location is Buffalo Exchange’s second store on the East Coast: the other one is in Philadelphia. Philadelphia Daily News calls Buffalo Exchange “The absolute best secondhand store in Philadelphia,” (9/19/03). ABC Extreme Makeover stylist Sam Saboura says Buffalo Exchange is “one of my favorite resale stores” (11/4/04). Budget Living magazine calls our resale chain “hugely popular” (Aug/Sept 2004).
Buffalo Exchange is unique because clothing and accessories are bought, sold and traded directly with store customers. Used clothes can be traded for any item in the store, including home items, jewelry, and new clothing. The ever-changing inventory includes designer wear, basics, vintage, jeans, leather, and one-of-a-kind items. As of Jan 1, 2006, the resale clothing store chain will have 25 stores and 5 franchises in 11 states, with $40 million a year in sales.
