Brenda Porter, co-founder of BTG Enterprises, an Atlanta-based IT solutions firm, will participate in an Open Source panel at the November 13th meeting of the Atlanta Electronic Commerce Forum. BTG Enterprises Inc. is an independent technology consultancy that has embraced Open Source throughout its business. “Not only does BTG run several internal business operations on Open Source technologies,” says Porter, “but we often incorporate Open Source solutions in our work for clients. Open Source solutions have enabled BTG Enterprises to decrease our own overhead and licensing costs without sacrificing access to advanced business technologies. This, in turn, helps us stay competitive.” The meeting will examine the relationship between Open Source technologies and the goals of e-commerce professionals.
Ms. Porter states. “I’m glad that the AECF is hosting this event. I see it as a great opportunity for technology customers and decision-makers to learn a lot more about how Open Source can fit into their technology and overall business strategies.”
Additionally, BTG has seen how much Open Source has made business technology tools more affordable and accessible to its small- to mid-sized clients. “There has been a significant leveling of the playing field for small companies to have the kind of access to information and other management tools that used to only exist for large enterprises,” says Porter. “This event is a great way for decision makers to learn more about what kind of impact that the adoption of Open Source can have for their organizations.”
