Telekom Slovenije and Kontron Europe GmbH announce their joint support for the upcoming ETSI NG eCall 2026 Plugtests in Ljubljana, designed to advance interoperability and validation of next-generation emergency call (NG eCall) systems across Europe.
Hosted by Telekom Slovenije, the event will leverage a dedicated 4G/5G test network environment with technical and operational support from Kontron and SINTESIO. In preparation for the Plugtests, the test environment has been stabilized and enhanced using Kontron’s NG eCall Demo Box (KDemo‑16‑NGeCall) a ruggedized, ready-to-use testing platform that enables comprehensive end-to-end validation of NG eCall and pan-European eCall calls without requiring an in-vehicle system (IVS). This ensures flexible and reliable validation for test labs, network operators, and PSAP integrators.
Built on a Qualcomm SA525M 5G platform with integrated GNSS, the Demo Box supports NG eCall in 4G and 5G NSA networks, hybrid NG/pan‑EU eCall fallback, and MSD versions 2 and 3, including optional data sets. Its embedded Linux software offers automatic and manual call generation, stress and loop testing, as well as detailed session logging with live GNSS traces making it ideal for conformance testing, network validation, and training PSAP users and operators.
Together, Kontron and SINTESIO are providing technical support for the test network setup and will demonstrate Kontron’s NG eCall upgrade solution, highlighting a smooth and reliable transition from legacy public eCall services to the next-generation NG eCall. This collaboration amplifies event visibility, strengthens EU-level standardization efforts, and delivers high-impact promotion at no additional cost.
“By integrating Kontron’s NG eCall Demo Box into the test environment, Telekom Slovenije ensures a stable and realistic setup for participating organizations,” said Matjaž Beričič, Director of Network and Infrastructure at Telekom Slovenije. “This cooperation underlines our joint commitment to advancing reliable emergency communication technologies.”
“Kontron is proud to contribute its Demo Box as a reference platform and to support the Plugtests alongside Telekom Slovenije, SINTESIO, and Qualcomm,” said Reinhold Erwig-Drueppel, Head of Product & Portfolio Management Mobile Solutions at Kontron Europe. “Our shared goal is to foster interoperability and standardization across the European NG eCall ecosystem.”
The NG eCall Plugtests Ljubljana 2026 serve as a neutral platform to validate interoperability between PSAPs, IVS vendors, and mobile network operators across the evolving 4G/5G NG eCall landscape. Leveraging proven test equipment such as Kontron’s Demo Box, the Plugtests ensure high stability, repeatability, and progress toward the modernization of emergency communications in Europe.
