• The only voltage-independent RCBO in the world to deliver a 10kA breaking capacity in a single-module (17.6 mm) design;
• Provides reliable protection against earth faults, short circuits, and overcurrent;
• 50 percent space saving compared to conventional solutions enabling retrofit projects, system upgrades, and improved system continuity.
The world’s slimmest electromechanical RCBO, the voltage-independent device offers protection against overcurrent, short-circuit, and residual faults for demanding commercial and industrial applications, including large commercial buildings, industrial facilities, and complex retrofit projects.
The DS301C M delivers a 10kA short-circuit breaking capacity in a single 17.6 mm module - the standard width of one Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB) providing a level of protection that was previously only available in larger, two or three-module width solutions.
The DS301CM enables 50 percent space saving compared to traditional RCBO or RCCB+MCB configurations. This is particularly valuable in renovation and retrofit projects where space inside existing electrical distribution panels is limited. The additional capacity allows room for extra circuits, future system upgrades, or functions such as energy meters and other DIN rail devices.
By combining ABB’s proven MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker) and RCCB (Residual Current Circuit Breaker) technologies into a single module, the DS301C M RCBO provides reliable protection against earth faults, short circuits, and overcurrent. In the event of a fault, only the affected circuit is interrupted, helping to maintain system continuity, reduce downtime, and simplify maintenance in commercial and industrial installations.
Andrea Menti, Energy Distribution Business Line Leader within ABB’s Smart Buildings Division, said: “As more electrical systems and technologies are added to buildings, space in electrical panels is becoming increasingly limited. Protection devices still need to deliver high levels of protection performance in that space. The DS301C M 10kA offers high fault protection in a compact, single-module format, making it easier for installers and builders to maintain high safety standards with a small footprint, particularly in retrofit applications.”
The RCBO’s voltage-independent operation ensures reliable fault protection even if the supply voltage is unstable or interrupted. As part of ABB’s DIN rail portfolio, the DS301C M is fully coordinated with other protection and control devices, supporting complete sub-distribution and final distribution solutions.
From a sustainability perspective, the DS301C M is part of ABB’s EcoSolutions™ portfolio. Its compact design supports material efficiency through reduced material use, and it is manufactured at ABB’s Santa Palomba facility in Italy, which operates under ABB’s global Mission to Zero™ program and follows a Zero Waste to Landfill approach.
ABB will showcase the DS301C M IcN 10kA at Light + Building 2026 as part of its ‘Inside the Innovation’ experience, where visitors can see the solution featured within life-scale residential and commercial building environments inspired by real-world installations.
Visitors can experience ABB’s Inside the Innovation at Light + Building 2026 from 8 13 March, in Booth B51, E51 in Hall 12.
