• At the 100th IFA 2024, Siemens Hausgeräte presents the premium iQ500 inductionAir Plus cooktop with "diamondProtect", which combines two solutions for glass-ceramic cooktops from SCHOTT CERAN®: Miradur® and Luminoir®.
• The scratch-resistant Miradur® coating, which is almost as hard as a diamond, preserves the elegant look of cooktops for a long time, while the black Luminoir® glass-ceramic ensures more brilliant light features on the cooktop thanks to its special translucency.
• Made in Germany: Like every other original CERAN® cooktop, the patented Miradur® coating is applied in Germany.
Almost as hard as a diamond, the protected surface remains largely unaffected by scratches and shines like new for longer. But there is even more SCHOTT know-how in the Siemens cooktop: Thanks to the ingenious Luminoir® material formula, LED light signals penetrate even brighter and more colorfast through the deep black glass-ceramic cooktop surface. The innovation can be seen from September 6 to 10, 2024 in Berlin at the IFA technology and industry trade fair (Hall 1.1), which is taking place for the 100th time this year.
An integrated extractor hood, combi induction, automatic temperature control and simple operation with the touch of a finger thanks to its smart functions, the Siemens iQ500 inductionAir Plus premium cooktop effortlessly produces perfect cooking results. The new product proves its unique talent when used in tough everyday kitchen environments: for example, when tiny particles of dirt, grains of salt or angular grains of sand are left on the cooking surface and heavy pots are dragged across it; when kitchen sponges rub against the glass-ceramic with high pressure and cleaning agents with harsh chemicals are rubbed in; when bulky steel pans are set down roughly then Miradur® reduces the likelihood of permanent damage due to its resistance.
Although conventional CERAN® glass-ceramic is already extremely robust thermally, mechanically and chemically, visible scratches or scuffs can occur over time, which stand out in the bright light of modern kitchen lighting and spoil the attractive appearance of the glossy cooktop. That changes with "diamondProtect": the patented coating makes the glass ceramic more than twice as scratch-resistant as conventional CERAN® cooktops for a flawless look for years to come.
Almost as hard as a diamond
Siemens relies on know-how from SCHOTT, the pioneer in the field of glass-ceramic cooktop surfaces: Miradur® uses a special coating technology that has been proven to increase scratch resistance against sand by over 95 percent and against scouring pads by 70 percent. In the Martens hardness test, Miradur® achieves a universal hardness of 10 GPa three times the hardness of stainless steel and almost the hardness of a diamond.
More variety for brilliant light design under the cooktop
Siemens iQ500 inductionAir Plus can do even more: With Luminoir®, the cooktop uses another solution from SCHOTT. The glass experts developed a material formulation that makes glass-ceramic more translucent and at the same time deep black. This allows LED light sources under the cooktop to shine through brighter and clearer. White light in particular, but also other colors such as blue, now appear more brilliant and true to color, and the contours stand out more clearly.
Luminoir® and Miradur® are used in the Siemens iQ500 inductionAir Plus hob with "diamondProtect". With this visually doubly effective feature, the premium product has sales potential among perfectionists in the kitchen as well as design aficionados. At IFA 2024 in Berlin, visitors will have the opportunity to take a closer look at the durable cooktop.
