PRZOOM - /newswire/ - Graz, Austria, 2024/09/04 - International technology group ANDRITZ has successfully started up a new DD-Washer drum displacer washer at the Tanigawa pulp mill of Hyogo Pulp Industries Ltd, a leading Japanese unbleached kraft pulp producer - HyogoPulp.co.jp / ANDRITZ.com. The installation of the new DD-Washer is a key upgrade to the mill’s high-kappa brown stock washing line.

Naoki Ikawa, Representative Executive Director of Hyogo Pulp Industries, Ltd., says: “We decided to install a new ANDRITZ DD-Washer because of its flexibility to accommodate higher production rates and its environmental performance, which aligns with our sustainability goals.”

The state-of-the-art ANDRITZ DD-Washer ensures maximum washing efficiency and excellent pulp quality while optimizing water usage, thus improving the mill’s environmental footprint. It has a unique multi-stage design that allows to adjust the washing stages to the production needs in run mode.

As part of its investment to improve sustainability, Hyogo Pulp Industries also ordered a multi-effect evaporation plant and a methanol liquefaction plant the first of its kind in the Japanese pulp industry from ANDRITZ in 2023.

Hyogo Pulp Industries (hyogopulp.co.jp) produces about 200,000 tons of unbleached softwood pulp per year for customers in Japan and Southeast Asia. In addition, the company supplies green electricity generated from biomass. Hyogo Pulp Industries promotes the effective use of wood resources in its pulp and power generation businesses by using mainly discarded wood as raw material.
