To reduce the CO2 footprint of production, the industry is switching from cupola to electric furnaces. Metso is supporting this transformation with the introduction of the Outotec® Mineral Wool Furnace, an electric furnace for melting mineral wool.
“Demand for insulation materials is growing due to the tightening energy-efficiency requirements. At the same time, the insulation material industry is aiming for better efficiency and carbon neutrality in their production processes. Using Metso’s Outotec® Mineral Wool Furnace in the melting process is an efficient way to decrease carbon dioxide emissions,” says Tom Rönnberg, Technology Director at Metso.
The Outotec® Mineral Wool Furnace design is based on Metso’s proven proprietary equipment used in various ferroalloy and slag cleaning applications. The furnace is part of Metso’s Planet Positive offering.
