Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and Robert Bosch GmbH today at CES 2024 introduced the automotive industry’s first central vehicle computer capable of running infotainment and advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) functionalities on one single system-on-chip (SoC). Bosch unveiled this new central vehicle computer, known as its cockpit & ADAS integration platform, that is based on the Snapdragon Ride™ Flex System-on-Chip (SoC). The companies’ work together on Bosch’s new cockpit & ADAS integration platform is a result of their long-standing relationship to develop highly consolidated solutions that are defining the future of software-defined vehicles. Together, the companies have successfully executed several in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) projects and established a robust global customer base in this area.

Built on Qualcomm Technologies’ leadership in digital cockpit and ADAS compute platforms, the Flex SoC is designed to support mixed-criticality workloads, allowing for digital cockpit, ADAS and automated driving (AD) capabilities to be co-implemented on a single SoC. This unique capability enables automakers to realize a unified central compute and software-defined vehicle architecture that scales from entry to premium tiers. Leveraging the Flex SoC, Bosch’s new vehicle computer can implement rich user experiences through infotainment, vehicle lifecycle management, and digital cluster and ADAS features such as object/traffic light/lane detection, automated parking, intelligent and personalized navigation, voice assistance, control for multiple displays as well as processing for camera radar and ultrasonic data.

Bosch’s comprehensive infotainment, instrumentation and ADAS capabilities has helped Bosch remain a leading automotive supplier in the industry. With the introduction of the new cockpit & ADAS integration platform and the combined hardware and software capabilities, Bosch is in a position to provide a distinct competitive edge on the cost roadmap, delivering unparalleled value to its customers.

“We are pleased to work with Bosch to have our Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC enable their new central vehicle computer, further underscoring our shared commitment to technological innovation within automotive,” said Nakul Duggal, senior vice president and general manager, automotive & cloud computing, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “The fusion of infotainment and ADAS functionalities on a single SoC is a milestone for the industry, offering a high performance, scalable solution for automakers to realize next-generation software-defined vehicles.”

“With the cockpit and ADAS integration platform, we can once again demonstrate our outstanding cross-domain expertise and experience. We are proud to be the world's first Tier 1 supplier to demonstrate the interaction of system functions from previously separated domains in a single central computer in collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies,” said Christoph Hartung, president of the Cross-Domain Computing Solutions division at Bosch. “With this cost-effective solution we are paving the way for bringing even more ADAS functions into vehicles, including in the entry-level and mid-range segment.”

The new cockpit & ADAS integration platform from Bosch will be on display by invitation only at the Bosch booth at CES 2024 in Las Vegas from January 9 through January 12.
