Bruker today announces that the new RoadRunner™ explosives trace detector (ETD) for airport passenger and baggage security screening. Presently the only handheld ETD instrument to meet the protocol set by the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC)1 (ecac-ceac.org), the RoadRunner offers fast and accurate screening capabilities in an easy to use, handheld design.
The RoadRunner ( bruker-etd.com) is an ETD that offers the high detection performance of ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) in a user-friendly handheld format. Utilizing the patented, non-radioactive HEPI™-source, the unique design of the RoadRunner offers excellent trace detection capabilities for explosives and narcotics to facilitate rapid screening in a certified, fully compliant system. It incorporates the patented CHIRP™ modulation technology that provides the sensitivity of benchtop ETDs in a handheld design, whilst maintaining a low false alarm rate. The RoadRunner features an intuitive ‘traffic light’ user interface and automatic calibration to minimize the total cost of training, maintenance and operation.
