FIS™, a global leader in financial services technology, announced today that it has been ranked first in the 2017 IDC FinTech Rankings. The annual IDC FinTech Rankings is based on 2016 calendar year revenues attributed to financial institutions.
“In the rapidly changing financial services industry, FIS continues to focus on delivering technology innovations that solve real-world problems to help our clients succeed and grow,” said FIS President and CEO Gary Norcross. “We’re proud to earn the top spot in this year’s rankings because it shows the investments we are making are valued by our clients and are empowering their success, as well as driving value to our shareholders and employees.”
Now in its fourteenth year, the IDC FinTech Rankings categorize and evaluate the top global providers of financial technology based on calendar year revenues from financial institutions for hardware, software and/or services. These providers supply the technological backbone of the financial services industry, an industry in which IDC Financial Insights forecasts worldwide spending on IT across the globe to reach half a trillion dollars by 2018.
“Congratulations to FIS for earning the top spot in the 2017 IDC FinTech rankings,” said Jerry Silva, Global Banking Research Director, IDC Financial Insights. “In recent years, FIS has transformed itself into the largest provider of financial technology in the world through a combination of organic growth and successful strategic acquisitions. It has done this while maintaining its focus on delivering continued innovations to its growing base of customers.”
The annual IDC FinTech Rankings (idc.com) has become an important measure of the health and direction of technology in the industry and the emergence of innovative solutions from new players. In addition, the IDC FinTech Rankings serve as a critical tool for financial institutions and companies to use during strategic planning and to review whenever they consider new investments in third-party solutions.
