Based on its recent analysis of the radio-frequency identification (RFID) market for logistics, Frost & Sullivan recognises Kathrein RFID with the 2016 European Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Line Strategy Award. Kathrein's ultra-high frequency (UHF) RFID technology product portfolio, targeted at various end users ranging from commercial to industrial, enables end-to-end tracking in the logistics market. The company's strategic acquisition of the software vendor noFilis further elevated Kathrein RFID's position from that of a hardware vendor to a complete solution provider.
Kathrein RFID’s comprehensive product range was based on the company’s unique Kathrein RFID antenna interface (KRAI). It introduced the KRAI with the aim of enhancing the read range in dense transponder and reflective environments and facilitating the integration of RFID systems and reducing costs.
"Kathrein RFID recently introduced the ARU-CSB high-end antenna-integrated reader that is equipped with direction detection of transponder signals,” said Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst Ram Ravi. "Additionally, noFilis’ CrossTalk solution endows the solution with middleware, device management, and edgeware capabilities. Compliant with ISO and RFID standards, the Kathrein RFID seamlessly integrates with existing infrastructure."
The value-added features offered by Kathrein RFID’s product range and noFilis’ software solution have helped the company acquire an enviable clientele. Some of its major wins include Robert Bosch GmbH, Siemens AG, Audi AG, Volkswagen, and Porsche. Companies such as Scania and Audi deploy Kathrein RFID’s products to revolutionise and digitise their supply chains, Audi uses RFID for internal process optimisation, and Scania uses RFID for ensuring reliable vehicle delivery. In addition, noFilis’ CrossTalk 3.0 AppCenter enables different facets of tracking such as pallets, personnel, and returnable transport items (RTI).
The Kathrein RFID antenna interface is the RFID solution of choice among end users because it delivers a successful read rate of more than 33%. Its RFID products are diverse and highly customizable in order to meet the specific requirements of diverse end users. It believes in maintaining highly interactive relationships with customers, which allows it to identify and rectify its product and technological loopholes.
"Kathrein RFID’s key focus is to create a positive brand identity in the RFID market. It has made end users aware of the rich attributes of its products, gradually ramping up the adoption rate of its offerings," noted Ravi. "With its end-to-end product suite that can cater to the specific needs of customers in the industrial, logistics, and retail verticals, Kathrein RFID is gradually entrenching itself in the European market."
Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has developed a comprehensive product line that caters to the breadth of the market it serves. The award recognises the extent to which the product line meets customer base demands, the overall impact it has in terms of customer value as well as increased market share.
Frost & Sullivan’s Best Practices Awards recognise companies in a variety of regional and global markets for outstanding achievement in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and product development.
