Six of these laureates have had their work published in Wiley’s medical, physiology, chemistry and economics journals and books.

The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2016 has been awarded to Professor Yoshinori Ohsumi, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan,"for his discoveries of mechanisms for autophagy." Ohsumi has published over 40 articles in eleven journals published by Wiley, his first paper appearing in 1989 in the Journal of Electron Microscopy Technique (now known as Microscopy Research and Technique). He has also authored 2 book chapters in Wiley publications. Ohsumi’s work has appeared in Acta Crystallographica Section D, Acta Crystallographica Section F, EMBO Reports, FEBS Letters, Genes to Cells, IUBMB Life, Journal of Synchrotron Radiation, Microscopy Research and Technique, The EMBO Journal, Traffic, and Yeast. Ohsumi also contributed to Handbook of ATPases: Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Pathophysiology, and Protein Degradation Series: 4 Volume Set. Ohsumi was awarded the Wiley Prize in Biomedical Sciences in early 2016.
The 2016 Nobel Prize in Chemistry has been jointly awarded to Professors Jean-Pierre Sauvage, University of Strasbourg, France, Sir J. Fraser Stoddart, Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, USA and Bernard “Ben” L. Feringa, University of Groningen, The Netherlands,"for the design and synthesis of molecular machines." Sir Fraser is a member of the editorial boards of Chemistry A European Journal, ChemPlusChem (both owned by ChemPubSoc Europe), Chinese Journal of Chemistry, and Macromolecular Rapid Communications. He was a member of the international advisory board of Angewandte Chemie 1995-2013 (owned by the German chemical society GDCh). He is among the most prolific authors in history for Angewandte with over 125 articles since 1974. He co-edited, among others, Stimulating Concepts in Chemistry (Wiley-VCH) and wrote The Nature of the Mechanical Bond, to appear in October this year. Feringa is a member of the editorial boards of Advanced Synthesis & Catalysis, ChemPhotoChem (ChemPubSoc Europe) and Israel Journal of Chemistry. He co-edited Molecular Switches (Wiley-VCH), to which he, Stoddart and Sauvage contributed. Sauvageedited Perspectives in Supramolecular Chemistry: Transition Metals in Supramolecular Chemistry, Volume 5 and co-editedFrom Non-Covalent Assemblies to Molecular Machines (Wiley-VCH) to which he, Stoddart and Feringa contributed and Molecular Catenanes, Rotaxanes and Knots (Wiley-VCH) to which he and Stoddart contributed. All three laureates have contributed countless articles across 21 journals at Wiley and Wiley-VCH and have contributed to chapters to numerous books beyond those they edited.
The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel was awarded jointly to Professors Oliver Hart, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, USA, and Bengt Holmström, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, MA, USA,"for their contributions to contract theory." Hart’s work has appeared in the Journal of the European Economic Association, The Journal of Finance, Journal of Accounting Research, The Economic Journal and Economica. Holmström’s work has appeared in The Journal of Finance, Journal of Economics & Management Strategy and The Journal of Applied Corporate Finance.
Wiley would also like to congratulate joint physics laureates, Professors David J. Thouless, Duncan M. Haldane and J. Michael Kosterlitz who were awarded "for theoretical discoveries of topological phase transitions and topological phases of matter," and 2016 Peace Laurette Juan Manuel Santos,"for his resolute efforts to bring the country's more than 50-year-long civil war to an end."
