• Bomgar is listed as a representative vendor in the 2016 Gartner Market Guide for Privileged Access Management.
• The report finds prevention of both breaches and insider attacks remain major catalysts in adoption of privileged access management solutions, followed by regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
The annual report provides an analysis of the privileged access management market and names representative vendors that offer privileged access management solutions. According to the guide, drivers for the investments into privileged access management technology are primarily the desire to mitigate risks of data breaches and insider abuse.
In the guide, Felix Gaehtgens, research director and Anmol Singh, principal research analyst at Gartner, write that,“Privileged access is a major focus for security and I&O leaders looking to prevent and detect breaches, maintain individual accountability, and increase operational efficiency.” The report also states,“By 2019, 30% of new PAM purchases will be delivered as a service or run in the cloud (up from less than 5% today), reflecting needs to manage virtual infrastructure and cloud services.” [1]
Bomgar’s Privileged Access Management solutions enable security professionals to control, monitor, and manage access to critical systems by privileged users. Bomgar Privileged Access provides administrators, vendors, and business users with the access capabilities they need to be more productive, while protecting high value infrastructure, assets, and applications from cyber breaches. It integrates seamlessly with Bomgar Vault, an intuitive credential safe that allows security professionals to authorize access without exposing credentials to privileged accounts. Bomgar Vault stores and rotates credentials, and allows users or elevate privileges with credential or SSH key injection directly from Bomgar Privileged Access. Organizations can also require multifactor authentication to Bomgar Privileged Access with Bomgar Verify, an easy-to-use, tokenless two factor authentication solution that lets users choose and manage their own devices for a second factor of authentication.
“With more and more data breaches being traced back to compromised credentials or access, either through an insider or third party vendor, securing access to critical systems is a top priority,” said Sam Elliott, director of security product management, Bomgar. “Privileged access management technologies not only help organizations secure their privileged accounts and credentials, but also track who is accessing those critical systems and what they’re doing. We’ve designed our solutions to help security professionals better manage and control access, while allowing users to be more productive and efficient, making secure access work for both security and administrators.”
