The EFSA Journal is an online, fully open access journal that publishes the Authority’s scientific outputs. EFSA assesses risks along the entire food chain, ‘from farm to fork’, and its mandate includes nutrition, animal health and welfare, plant health and plant protection. Its scientific advice provides the evidence base for policy decisions taken to protect European consumers and the environment.
The EFSA Journal will be fully discoverable via its own branded homepage and content pages powered by Wiley Online Library from early 2016. The EFSA Journal will continue to provide open access to all of the Authority’s high level, expert advice on the key food safety issues.
“The EFSA Journal is our main interface with the scientific community; hence we are very excited to draw on Wiley’s experience in society publishing to improve engagement with this important stakeholder group. It will also enhance the reach and accessibility of our information, key strategic objectives for the Journal and the organisation,” said Dr. Bernhard Url, EFSA’s Executive Director. “The services that Wiley introduces will bring a range of operational benefits for the organisation as well as improving the consistency of our scientific communications.”
“We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with such a prestigious organisation as EFSA”, said Dr. Andrew Robinson, Senior Vice President & Managing Director, Society Services at Wiley. “With our experience of establishing data-enriched publishing workflows and technology and strength in Open Access, we believe we can provide valuable support to EFSA and the EFSA Journal.”
