Three Cengage Learning titles have been honored by the Textbook and Academic Authors Association (TAA) as part of their annual awards program. TAA, a national organization dedicated to supporting the creation of top-quality educational and scholarly works that stimulate the love of learning and pursuit of knowledge, will present the awards at the 29th Annual Authoring Conference in San Antonio, Texas, on June 24th.
Cengage Learning titles were recognized with awards in three categories: the Textbook Excellence Award, the McGuffey Longevity Award, and the Most Promising New Textbook Award. Award recipients include:
• Thinking for Yourself, 9th edition by Marlys Mayfield received the McGuffey Longevity Award recognizing textbooks and learning materials whose excellence has been demonstrated over time. One judge who presided over the McGuffey Award noted,“Very rarely do I encounter a textbook that surprises me with its authenticity, creativity, and quality, but Thinking for Yourself has done that.
• Precalculus: Real Mathematics, Real People, 7th edition by Ron Larson received the Textbook Excellence Award recognizing excellence in current textbooks and learning materials.
• Engineering Applications in Sustainable Design and Development, 1st edition by Bradley Striebig, Adebayo A. Ogundipe, and Maria Papadakis received the Most Promising New Textbook Award recognizing excellence in 1st edition textbooks and learning materials.

The TAA (taaonline.net) provides a wide range of professional development resources, events, and networking opportunities for textbook authors and authors of scholarly journal articles and books. Seventeen textbooks were named winners in total over four categories.
