CPA Global, the world’s leading provider of intellectual property (IP) management services and software, is hosting the Silicon Valley IP Forum: Transforming IP Management on October 28 at the Garden Court Hotel in Palo Alto, California.
This key industry forum, hosted in partnership with the Silicon Valley Intellectual Property Law Association (SVIPLA) and the USPTO Silicon Valley office, brings together IP experts and thought leaders to discuss current IP management challenges, and how devising a leaner, more efficient and cost-effective approach to managing IP, organisations can gain competitive advantage while simultaneously mitigating risk. Attendees will also learn how corporations and law firms can gain insights and competitive advantage through IP analytics and other key metrics.
Panellists include Jeremiah Chan, Legal Director at Google, Pete Tennent, IP Counsel at IBM Almaden Research Center, Andrew Schwaab, Of Counsel at DLA Piper LLP, Kevin Laurence, Partner at Renaissance IP Law Group LLP, and Sandy Godsey, Senior Director, Innovation and Intellectual Property Portfolios at PayPal.
John Cabeca, Director of the Silicon Valley USPTO, which celebrated its grand opening on October 15, will deliver the keynote address. He is a 25-year veteran of the USPTO and most recently served as Senior Advisor to the Under Secretary of Commerce for IP and Director of the USPTO. As Director of the Silicon Valley office, he ensures the USPTO’s initiatives and programmes are tailored to Silicon Valley’s unique ecosystem of industries and stakeholders.
Commenting on the forum, Alex Cregan, Executive Vice President, Americas at CPA Global, said: “The numerous IP management challenges that corporations and law firms face are made increasingly complex by the need to reduce risk and gain a competitive advantage in the market. Time and budget constraints mean that streamlined and cost-efficient approaches to managing IP are critical.
