New Flyer of America, Inc., a subsidiary of New Flyer Industries Inc (“New Flyer” or the “Company”), the leading manufacturer of heavy-duty transit buses in the United States and Canada, announced today that Orange County Transportation Authority (“OCTA”) has approved two contracts to purchase 218 (234 equivalent units or “EUs”) Xcelsior compressed natural gas (CNG) heavy-duty buses.
The contracts are firm orders for 202 XN40 Xcelsior 40-foot buses, with options for 10 more and 16 (32 EUs) XN60 60-foot articulated Xcelsior buses. OCTA has a growing fleet of environmentally friendly New Flyer CNG buses, and with these awards will increase their active New Flyer fleet to 556 vehicles.
