AccuVein, Inc., the global leader in vein visualization today announced a distribution agreement with Medical Shipment for them to be AccuVein’s exclusive distributor in the education market. Medical Shipment is a premium supplier of nursing equipment and supplies to nurse education institutions.
The AccuVein AV400, the only hand-held, non-contact vein visualization device, provides a map of the patient’s vasculature on the skin’s surface in order to improve access to veins for IV starts and blood draws. The AccuVein device has been shown to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction as well as reduce operating costs.
Saint Anselm College, a 125 year-old liberal arts college in New Hampshire, is using AccuVein devices for instruction in their labs. “AccuVein has been an invaluable teaching tool. It gives students confidence and enhances their knowledge of vasculature and of venipuncture procedures,” explains Stacy Toupin, Clinical Laboratory Manager. “Students also appreciate that they are learning using the latest technology.”
Widespread recognition of improved outcomes, including an endorsement by the Infusion Nurses Society, has resulted in vein visualization becoming the standard of care in healthcare facilities. Because nursing schools want to present the most realistic environment possible for clinicians in training, vein visualization has become the training standard as well.
