Amscreen, a leading technology firm with roots in Bolton and the surrounding area has today announced plans to begin investment and construction of a new screen product that will bring both employment and also trade to local businesses through the sourcing of the required goods and services.
Amscreen’s innovative outdoor screen project, in alliance with leading outdoor advertising business Clear Channel UK, will see outdoor, sunlight-visible digital screens deployed across the country and leads to the development of a purpose built 20,000 square foot manufacturing plant in Bolton.
Amscreen, one of Lord Sugar’s key businesses, already employs 40 individuals within the Bolton area as part of existing operations but this project could help this double over the next 12 months.
“As a business, we’ve had innovation, R&D and investment at the heart of everything we do and we’re confident that the expertise and talent found in the local employment market has and will continue to help us achieve our goals and growth targets”, commented Simon Sugar, Amscreen’s CEO.
Sugar continued,“The investment in people is exciting, especially as it spans from the very high tech development engineers right through to the traditional manufacturing and assembly skills that are sadly on the decline elsewhere in the UK.”
The additional roles will cover a full range of tasks from procurement, logistics, quality control, warehousing, assembly, test and product support. Plus, subject to demand, Amscreen would augment this injection of new team members with a double shift that would require a further group of new employees.
Furthermore, Amscreen’s investment in people is only a portion of the overall contribution that they will be delivering to an area that will benefit greatly from economic development.
Amscreen (amscreen.eu) will be developing a manufacturing facility and is already engaging with local businesses for the equipment and services that will enhance this facility. In addition, the vast majority of components that are required to be built into the outdoor screens will be sourced locally.
“Bolton has a deep heritage in skills that include manufacturing, metalwork and glass. We are proud to be using and supporting each of these as part of our outdoor screen project” Sugar said.
Whilst Amscreen’s offering is scalable across Europe and indeed worldwide, it is evident that their foundations and investment is firmly rooted in the UK.
