Excel Software announced a new Screen edition of MacA&D 4.2 and WinA&D 7.2 with screen modeling capabilities. Draw screen prototypes of Desktop applications, Mobile apps or websites. Click the Browse tool and bring your prototypes to life with editable fields, navigation buttons, selectable menu commands, tabbed panels, dynamic dialogs, calculations, timer controlled events, embedded video, sound, live web pages and scriptable user interactions.
A Screen model document contains a stack of named screens with widgets added from a tool palette. Palette tools include Captions, Fields, Buttons, Menus, Organizers, Text, Polygons, Shapes and Symbols. To draw a prototype, simply select a tool, click on a screen to add an object and customize it with a Properties dialog that is presented. Drag, size, cut and paste objects on screens to build a prototype. Add buttons, menus or toolbars that link screens together.
The Properties dialog for Field, Button, Menu and Organizer objects has a Script panel to define scripting commands that execute when a user clicks that object on the screen or hovers over it with the Mouse cursor. Mockup basic screen design of applications or websites without scripting or add as much dynamic behavior as desired with a powerful scripting engine that includes scripting tags for variables, calculations, math functions, file management, procedures, video, sound, Internet, timers and conditional logic.
Switch from draw to browse mode with a button click. A UI designer can quickly experiment with screen layouts, navigational features and dynamic behavior in the user interface. By eliminating the build process, the always live prototype allows the designer to instantly see and refine the application or website to accomplish in minutes what would otherwise require days or weeks of effort by a skilled software developer.
The new Screen modeling capabilities are available in a Screen edition of MacA&D and WinA&D and fully integrated into the Desktop and Developer editions. MacA&D and WinA&D support flow charts, the full 14-diagram UML 2.2 notation for object-oriented design, structured analysis & design, data modeling, Business Process Models (BPMN 2.0), system models with simulation and real-time, multi-task design. The integrated environment includes data dictionary, requirements management, code generation, reengineering and scriptable reports.
MacA&D 4.2 runs on Mac OS X 10.7 or newer computers including Yosemite. WinA&D 7.2 runs on Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 or 8.1 computers. MacA&D and WinA&D are available in four Single User editions and Site License editions for added team capabilities. The Screen edition is $195, Standard edition is $495, Desktop edition is $995 and Developer edition is $1595. The product includes printed and PDF user guides and a library of free demonstration and training videos on the vendor website.
