SolarWinds, a leading provider of powerful and affordable IT performance management software, today announced its participation at the 2014 TCEA System Administrator and Technical Support Conference on October 23-24, in Austin, Texas, which is designed to provide practical information for system administrators who support hardware, software, network and infrastructure for PreK-16 educators.
At the event, Klein Independent School District (ISD) sysadmins Marcus Melvin and Craig Richardson will share how the district successfully deployed SolarWinds® Server & Application Monitor and SolarWinds Virtualization Manager to monitor and improve visibility into their hybrid IT environment both physical and virtual that supports 45 schools, approximately 48,200 students and 6,100 staff. SolarWind’s Craig McDonald, director of product management, will join Melvin and Richardson to demonstrate how SolarWinds can help sysadmins gain even further visibility into their environment by monitoring the full application stack. McDonald, Melvin and Richardson will present,“Monitoring the Health of Your Physical and Virtual Environment,” on Friday, October 24 at 8:30 am. CT.
In addition, SolarWinds Head Geek Patrick Hubbard will present,“A+ Bandwidth Not Delivering A+ Performance?” on Thursday, October 23, at 12:45 pm. CT. In this session, Hubbard will arm education sysadmins with simple yet effective tips on how to manage their school’s bandwidth issues without breaking the budget. Attendees will learn how to minimize the effects of BYOD on school WANs, the critical importance of smart QoS, and how grading policies can be an effective way to monitor traffic.
“Increasingly, teachers are embracing online learning, video and other methodologies while mobile devices, specifically tablets, are becoming fundamental fixtures in classrooms. With education’s increasing reliance on technology, IT infrastructures complexity is on the rise and a heightened reliance on hybrid IT environments is becoming common practice requiring IT Pros in education to seek out more effective monitoring tools,” said Hubbard. “At the TCEA System Administrator and Technical Support Conference, we are excited to present to this specialized group of sysadmins, gain a better understanding of the unique challenges they face, and provide information about how SolarWinds can streamline the IT monitoring practices in their school or district.”
