The Forum, to be held at the Silicon Valley Four Seasons, Palo Alto, brings together senior IP industry figures to discuss how, by devising a leaner, more efficient and cost-effective approach to IP management, organisations can gain competitive advantage while, at the same time, reducing risk.
Guest panelists Melanie Carmosino, Manager of Patent Operations in the IP Group at Microsoft Corporation, and Varun A. Shah, Global Head of IP Development at Aruba Networks, will outline strategies for optimising an IP portfolio in line with ’cost versus return’ considerations; while Kirupa Pushparaj, Head IP Counsel at Square Inc., and Miku Mehta, IP Partner in the Silicon Valley Office at Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch LLP a California-based law firm - will focus on how to manage risk in a changing IP landscape.
The keynote address “IP Outlook” will be delivered by Director of the Silicon Valley United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) John Cabeca, who will provide an overview of the Agency’s recent initiatives, including the establishment of the Silicon Valley satellite office.
Commenting on the event, Joe Mischler, CPA Global’s Senior Vice President, Americas, said: “Silicon Valley is one of the world’s most prolific and dynamic sources of innovation. For many of the leading technology organisations based in the region, effective management of their intellectual property is intrinsic to their success. We are excited, therefore, to be joining forces with the Silicon Valley IP Law Association to present this high-level forum, where senior IP professionals will discuss key strategies to achieve competitive advantage - including improving workflow efficiency, maximising limited resources, enhancing risk management and taking a more business-focused approach to IP management.”
Mark O'Boyle, President of SVIPLA, added: “We’re delighted to partner with CPA Global in developing the Silicon Valley IP Forum. ‘Faster, Smarter and Leaner’ brings together leading professionals, including Director Cabeca and our Past President, Kirupa Pushparaj, to share their insights on managing IP and associated risk efficiently and cost-effectively. We hope everyone involved in the Silicon Valley IP industry will join us for this important event, which will help put them at the forefront of thought leadership and cutting-edge practices in this field.”
