Applied Voice & Speech Technologies, Inc. (AVST), a leading developer of software-based Unified Communications (UC) solutions, today announced a new direct IP integration between Microsoft® Lync® 2013 and AVST's CX-E UC platform. This integration creates an easy migration path for enterprises looking to transition their call control (PBX) infrastructure to Lync and enables the centralization of voice applications across multiple locations and an evolving PBX environment.
A major trend in the UC market is Microsoft Lync's increasing market share, with the enterprise transition to Lync taking shape in one of two ways: either a business will move to Lync as its sole PBX platform or a business will integrate Lync into its existing PBX environment for a specific department or branch office. Regardless of which path an enterprise chooses, AVST's best-of-breed CX-E UC platform enables and extends Lync's Enterprise Voice core capabilities with mission-critical UC applications that include voicemail, speech automated attendant, personal assistant, call center, interactive voice response, notification and more.
"Lync 2013 becomes more viable as a PBX replacement with AVST's CX-E," said Dave Michels, Senior Analyst at Wainhouse Research. "One of the biggest considerations when deploying Lync as a standalone solution is that many customers do not want to store voicemail messages in Microsoft Exchange for confidentiality or compliance reasons. CX-E offers alternatives for voicemail storage while still offering a variety of mobile, web and desktop client applications."
AVST introduced its new Lync 2013 integration to augment Lync's core voice capabilities with the following CX-E UC applications:
• Enterprise-class Voicemail to support confidentiality and compliance requirements;
• Speech and DTMF Automated Attendant enterprise wide or department implementations;
• Intelligent Call Completion based on schedules and user presence;
• Personal Assistant enabling a mobile workforce;
• Call Center TeamQ™ providing a cost-effective informal call center;
• Interactive Voice Response (IVR) and Notification.
Additionally, CX-E offers telephone user interface (TUI) emulations that minimize employee retraining; find-me/follow-me functionality based on presence information; and extensive automated attendant capabilities including menus based on day of week, time of day or specific location. All of these CX-E features strengthen and enhance the core capabilities of Lync 2013.
According to AVST President & CEO Hardy Myers,"The transition to Microsoft Lync is a significant trend that will shake up the overall enterprise communications landscape for years to come. Our corporate objective is to remain at the forefront of the major UC market trends by delivering the broadest interoperability on the market and developing UC applications that provide next-generation communications capabilities for our customers while providing a bridge to their digital future. Our new integration to Microsoft Lync is the next step in this ongoing process."
