Applied Video Imaging, a provider of rugged video products for airborne, ground, and marine surveillance missions, delivered its new rugged D1000 series display and its new Q0101 rugged Quad Video Processor for the Virginia State Police Bell 407 upgrade. The rugged HD display will be cockpit-mounted in portrait mode allowing single, dual, or tri image display of any of the VASP’s video sensor sources and moving map.

The display’s SDI video input supports resolutions up to 3-G SDI (1080p60Hz) and the dual LED back light supports high-bright day operation or NVGS Class B night operation.

Video input scaling, rotation, and mixing into a single HD SDI output is handled by the Q0101 Quad Processor. Eleven pre-set configurations are available and selectable from the D1000 series display’s PCAP (Projective CAPacitive) buttons.

Both units are completely enclosed in unique heat dissipating enclosures with a -30C⁰ to 65C⁰ operating temperature range, 25,000 ft. altitude rating, and certified to DO-160G standards.

“AVI’s is pleased to be part of VASP’s upgrade team to their Bell 407,” said Bruce Carriker, President and founder of AVI. “The increase in image size, resolution, brightness, and the unique ability to view all three video sources at the same time will provide greater effectiveness to VASP’s various missions.” “And because AVI’s display operates in portrait mode, we were able to fit into VASP’s limited cockpit real estate.”

Designed and tested to DO-160 standards, AVI’s rugged D1000 series displays and Q0101 quad processor accept 9 36 volts DC power. The units are designed for use in airborne law enforcement, ground systems, marine law enforcement and defense surveillance applications. Applications include helicopter displays, fixed wing aircraft displays, and other aerial surveillance installations.
