The product line to be composed of several solutions is based on server-client applications suitable for corporate networks of various configurations, including heterogeneous ones, such as terminal servers, thin and thick clients, those using global catalogues, etc.
The first product released is BioLink IDenium for Active Directory (AD), the only biometric solution for Active Directory supporting the 1-to-many identification mode, i.e. not requiring any other parameters for quick identification. Designed for Windows NT/2000/XP, it allows users registered in one domain getting biometrically identified with their unique fingerprints while accessing the shared network resources in the other domain. The offering is characterized by all the key benefits of the entire product line, such as reliability, security, functionality, performance, efficiency, economic feasibility and ease of installation and maintenance.
Implementation of BioLink IDenium for AD provides the following advantages: reliable identity verification in multiple domains, secured access to shared PCs, as well as robustness and scalability. BioLink IDenium for AD is also beneficial for reducing the user administration burden thanks to self-enrollment of biometric identifiers by IDenium users, and for its detailed manuals covering all the aspects of its installation and usage in every detail. The product is bundled with BioLink’s fingerprint matching devices - U-Match MatchBooks v.3.5 –demonstrating high quality capturing of fingerprint images, fast and accurate fingerprint matching. In addition, BioLink IDenium for AD supports a number of biometric scanners from other leading biometric vendors.
The core of the system is the biometric server storing the fingerprint database and performing the biometric matching procedures. The key utility of BioLink IDenium for AD provides biometric identification by a fingerprint when logging on the operating system. Another component allows replacing passwords with fingerprint identification while accessing the protected files and applications. The synchronization agent is responsible for synchronizing data between the AD service and BioLink IDenium for AD. At last, the admin pack is designed to enroll new users and their fingerprints centrally on the administrator workstation. Users can enroll their fingerprints, all ten of them, themselves; which is of vital importance if the user cuts or otherwise damages a finger – then he/she can apply another finger and be successfully identified into the system.
Piotr Pertsov, BioLink’s director of business development, says: “This long-awaited offering, intuitive in operation, is turning over a new leaf in BioLink’s software product line. Taking full advantage of the enterprise-class directory services and management capabilities of the Active Directory enables the users of BioLink IDenium for AD to considerably extend the use of biometrics on their desktops, which will become their second nature. In addition, the product can be regarded as an integral part of the integrated corporate security system, also encompassing BioLink’s physical access control and time management components.”
