The founding partners of the Electric Circuit Les Rôtisseries St-Hubert, RONA, METRO, the Agence métropolitaine de transport (AMT) and Hydro-Québec are pleased to announce the inauguration of six new public charging stations for electric vehicles (EV) on the campus of Université Laval. The charging stations located in the parking lots of the PEPS sports complex, the Ferdinand-Vandry building and the Alphonse-Desjardins building are now available to the public.

A leader in sustainable development for decades, Université Laval continues to take concrete action to become a model in terms of sustainable development practices. With the installation of six new EV charging stations on the campus, the institution has taken a step toward decreasing greenhouse gas emissions. Université Laval is proud to join forces with the Electric Circuit to offer this new service to the members of its community.

“The installation of six new charging stations for electric vehicles on the Université Laval campus is part of our goal of offering a variety of sustainable transportation services and it is also a trial designed to find new approaches and technologies. It also plays an important role in our intention to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and eventually become a carbon-neutral campus,” noted the university’s executive vice-president, Éric Bauce. “The new charging stations also provide the members of our university community with an additional choice in the concrete actions they can take to reduce their ecological footprint and contribute to our collective well-being. These actions help reinforce our culture of sustainability.”

“With the strategic arrival of Université Laval in the Electric Circuit network, we are able to pursue our expansion in the Québec region,” said Pierre-Luc Desgagné, Vice President Public and Government Affairs at Hydro-Québec, on behalf of the Electric Circuit’s founding partners. “With its six charging stations, Université Laval is promoting the adoption of electric vehicles. In addition the network will benefit greatly from the university’s reputation.”

The charging stations installed on the Université Laval campus were designed, developed and manufactured entirely by Québec-based AddÉnergie. When AddÉnergie won Hydro-Québec’s second call for tenders, it became the official supplier of charging stations for the Electric Circuit. “In addition to benefiting from the best electric charging solution in North America, Université Laval can be proud that it has acquired products that were fully developed, manufactured and deployed in Québec,” noted Louis Tremblay, President of AddÉnergie Technologies Inc.

The founders of AddÉnergie, Louis Tremblay and Michaël Desjardins, earned electrical engineering degrees from Université Laval. “We were very pleased to learn that AddÉnergie had won Hydro-Québec’s call for tenders, because it is a Québec-based company whose charging stations were created in our laboratories,” added Mr. Bauce. “We are also extremely proud to be able to encourage the next generation.”

To use the charging stations on the Université Laval campus, users join the Electric Circuit by filling out the online form under “Becoming a member” on theelectriccircuit.com (This hyperlink will open a new window). About The Electric Circuit
For its founding partners, the Electric Circuit is a major initiative in the rollout of charging infrastructure needed to support the arrival of plug-in vehicles in Québec.

The Electric Circuit (theelectriccircuit.com) is the largest public charging network in Québec, with close to 250 charging stations (240-V and 400-V) in operation in parking lots of the AMT, RONA stores, Metro grocery stores and St-Hubert restaurants throughout Québec. Since its launch in March 2012, 52 private and institutional partners have joined the Electric Circuit. It will continue to expand in order to offer greater geographical coverage and serve more EV drivers in many regions of Québec.

Electric Circuit users have access to a 24/7 telephone help line run by CAA-Québec, as well as a charging station locator service.
