An inventive spirit, expertise, the pursuit of quality, and delivery reliability pay off. The windshields used by many recognized Japanese motorcycle manufacturers do not come from the Far East, but from southern Germany. It is here that MRA Klement GmbH develops custom, high quality solutions. Their development, production and distribution relies on state-of-the-art technologies. The same applies to the company's IT from abas, with which MRA has reduced their delivery times, while improving the information and services they provide to their customers.
MRA Klement GmbH was founded over 25 years ago and has their roots in racing. Today, the engineers and experts at MRA develop and produce high quality products in a large vertical range of manufacture at their 4,000 m² facility. With great success. The company, which is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 with the supplement KBA (German Federal Motor Transport Authority), is an OEM for all recognized Japanese motorcycle manufacturers. MRA delivers Just-in-Time directly to the production lines. With representatives in 50 countries worldwide, MRA is one of today's best known brands for motorcycle accessories.
A green flag for variants
Before implementing abas, MRA struggled to maintain they broad range of variants in their previous software. Today, variants are created automatically in the abas ERP system. MRA Production Manager Hubert Schöll can make a large number of modifications to the software himself: "The internal and cross company processes we map with our IT all start with a new motorcycle model. We supply manufacturers, distributors, 50 importers, 3000 dealers, and also private customers with our windshields. Each model has at least seven windshield forms and each windshield form is offered in up to seven different colors. Before the implementation of our current ERP system, we had to manually maintain up to 100 variations in our custom software. Now, one click gets the job done. The system automatically generates the variants for the new model. We developed this solution ourselves and mapped it in the software. abas provides us a tool to make these kinds of modifications. In our specific case, optimization of the work flow led to a significant reduction of the time we need to create a new windshield in all variants."
B2B and B2C: On the same track
The MRA webshop uses the function logic of the ERP system. Distributors and private customers can determine the sales price and availability of a windshield, without even logging in. If a distributor or an importer logs in, they can also view their individual conditions and order the product. Cornelia Kleist works in product consulting and exporting at MRA: "The webshop has alleviated a lot of work for us. In the past, customers would call us to ask about the availability or estimated delivery date for a product. Today this process is automatic. The webshop visualizes availability using a traffic light system. If a product is not currently available, the webshop accesses production planning data in the ERP system and displays an estimated delivery date. Our process for providing information has become simpler and more reliable."
Up to speed: Mobile ERP operation
For MRA's Managing Director Dominik Triebler, mobile operation of his ERP system is an excellent advantage: "MRA does not have an external sales force, but we do present a lot at trade fairs. We also hold sales meetings at these trade fairs. To prepare for meetings at trade fairs we used to have to bring long printed lists with customer data, for example, what is the distributor's current status, their conditions, their address data, their revenues with us in the previous year, etc. Today, we access the ERP data remotely. Type in a name and all necessary information is displayed on my smartphone." MRA uses the Mobile Sales application for their ERP system. The team can use their smartphones and tablets to maintain contacts, create customers and prospects, manage tasks and notes, or view revenue figures and conditions for a customer. Managing Director Triebler: "Together with our software provider ABAS Projektierung eSolutions, we determined the areas that we wanted to display in our mobile application and they implemented it." Cornelia Kleist is also part of MRA's trade fair team and finds the mobile application intuitive to use: "Navigation of the application is based on standards. The most important information can be accessed from the start menu, including the customer search and current tasks. From there I can easily navigate to the information I require using the touch screen." MRA is currently planning on providing their customers future access to their individual data, such as revenues, outstanding items, and purchase orders. This will be through the webshop at first, and not mobile. But that can change quickly; the function logic for both applications is provided by the ERP system.
