UrbanShoppe, a new online shopping mall is set to debut within weeks and promises to usher in a new era of advertising equality for small merchants. UrbanShoppe brings urban shoppers, small merchants and larger advertisers together. This is the first of its kind for this buying audience and these sellers.
UrbanShoppe is a portal to and from urban America. "We are so pleased to be a new economic bridge into and out of the minority community," notes Publisher Marla Currie. "Urban Shoppers get access to unique, often one-of-a-kind, skilled craftsman or artisan goods from vendors from their community, nationally even globally. UrbanShoppe will contain a mix of small and large advertisers in digital display ads of the same size and the same relative exposure levels. According to Currie, Our goal is to have at least 75% of the total advertising be from small merchants. "The Windows of urbanShoppe" will have hundreds of merchant windows in as many as 10 different "shops" selling thousands of products. Shops include everything from fashion to food and professional services. Merchant storefront windows are hyperlinked to the shop owner's own website. No ecommerce takes place on UrbanShoppe.
To populate the mall for its initial rollout, UrbanShoppe is offering Small Vendors 6 months free window space at no-cost. Pricing for small vendors will be drastically discounted to allow for their sustained ability to promote themselves in UrbanShoppe.
