Applied Video Imaging, a provider of rugged video products for airborne, ground, and marine surveillance missions, introduced its NTSC/PAL to SDI Converter unit. The rugged stand-alone unit can convert up to four separate analog video inputs to four dual SD SDI or HD SDI video outputs. This allows legacy video sensor to be incorporated into new or upgraded mission systems saving cost and time.
Each of the four analog video inputs is independent and can accept component SD/HD, NTSC/PAL composite or NTSC/PAL S-Video signals (Single Channel Unit Shown). Low latency, high performance processing provides SDI encoding to dual multiplexed SDI outputs. Component video up to 1920x1080 resolution is supported. SD or HD SDI outputs are automatically matched to the resolution of the inputs which are auto detected.
Re-clocked outputs provide robust, maximum distance transmission of SDI video. AVI’s rugged NTSC/PAL to SDI Video Converter offers a high performance solution for converting component SD/HD, NTSC, PAL, or S-Video signals to SDI. Available in 1, 2, or 4 channel variants, all sensors and mission video sources can be used, maximizing the capability of the mission system.
“AVI’s new NTSC/PAL to SDI Converter allows our customers to interface to existing sensors and processors with NTSC or PAL video outputs. Customers are not always able to replace the entire sensor suite during mission system upgrades,” said Bruce Carriker, President and founder of AVI. “This provides a systematic and a cost effective road map for upgrading their sensor platforms.”
Designed to DO-160 standards, AVI’s rugged NTSC/PAL to SDI Converter single channel unit weighs 1.4 pounds in a 5.5 x 4.3 x 1.5 inch package and accepts 9 36 volts DC power.
AVI’s NTSC/PAL to SDI Converter is designed for use in airborne, ground, and marine law enforcement and defense surveillance applications. Based on industry standards, it can be used with any SDI display or system.
