iControl, whose industry-leading Retail Value Chain SaaS technology automates inefficient business processes, aligns information across partners and provides visibility to a common, integrated, and aligned view of the collective business, today announced the addition of Mike Brooks as President & Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Brooks also joins iControl’s board of directors. In related moves, iControl announced that Bill Harris, the company’s Chief Operating Officer, has shifted to Chief Implementation Officer. Rob Jackson was named Chief Customer Officer. Both will report to Brooks. Tal J. Zlotnitsky, the company’s CEO, and Sean Zlotnitsky, the company’s President, will become co-Chief Executive Officers. Brooks will report to the co-CEOs.
Brooks most recently served as the Vice President of Strategy & Business Analytics at Delhaize America. There he led teams of professionals responsible for that organization’s growth strategy, cost optimization, customer insights, data governance, business analytics, enterprise project management and consumer research. He had previously spent 4 years as a Market Vice President at Delhaize America’s largest Banner, Food Lion, where he was responsible for the oversight of retail operations in five states. Prior to joining Delhaize in 2006, Brooks spent 22 years in various corporate as well as banner leadership positions within Supervalu, serving as Vice President in Merchandising at the bigg’s banner during the last three years of his tenure.
“iControl has been experiencing explosive growth over the past three years, more than doubling our revenues, and still growing extremely rapidly,” said iControl’s Chairman and co-CEO Tal J. Zlotnitsky. “We are deeply committed to combining our superior technology and the talents of our team of professionals in research and analytics, as well as product development and customization, to make a profound and lasting impact on the entire retail value chain. With our future as bright as it is, we felt it was appropriate and timely to add a proven leader with Mike’s experience, judgment and character to lead the day to day activities of the organization, allowing Bill Harris to focus all of his time and attention on the vital tasks of on-boarding and implementation, and Rob Jackson on client services, while enabling Sean and me to devote more of our attention and energy to mid and long term corporate strategy."
Explaining why he felt iControl (icontroldsd.com) was the right opportunity at this stage of his career, Brooks said: “Being in the fortunate position to selectively target an ideal organization and leadership opportunity, I purposefully only considered joining innovative, customer-driven and rapidly growing organizations. The circumstances at iControl exceeded my entire selection criterion; I discovered a team of dedicated professionals focused on delivering revolutionary solutions. From the instant I interacted with iControl’s leaders, associates and customers, I knew I had discovered the leadership opportunity of a lifetime.”
"In Mike's various leadership roles at Food Lion and Delhaize America, he was known for his unwavering character, courageous leadership, passion for individual and team development, and his out-of-the-box thinking,” said Former Food Lion President Cathy Green Burns. “A strategist at heart, he struck a nice balance between long term vision and short term performance. Personally, I benefited greatly by having Mike as a colleague and wish him continued success as he joins iControl."
“I am very excited about the selection of Mike Brooks to the iControl team as President and Chief Operating Officer,” said iControl board member and senior advisor Mike Jackson, formerly the President & COO of Supervalu. “I have known Mike from my time in the Food Industry for over 25 years and always admired his customer centric and employee focus. Mike has the leadership qualities to execute the many dynamic business opportunities at iControl and lead the team to the next level of industry leading services. I can speak for the full Board at iControl and say that we are very pleased to have someone of Mike’s caliber join the organization in this leadership capacity.”
A native of Ohio, Mike holds a bachelor degree in Business Administration from Union Institute and University of Cincinnati, OH, and a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership degree from College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati, OH. Mike, his wife Jaelene, and their children, are currently residing in Suburban Charlotte, NC, and will soon be relocating to near iControl’s Burtonsville, MD headquarters.
