The Hodgdon Group, a full-service real estate brokerage, development and construction firm, announced today that it has completed construction of the conversion of the former Babies "R" Us building at Eastland Center in West Covina, Calif., for the opening of an Ashley Furniture HomeStore today, March 15, 2013. Hodgdon Group's HMC Construction, Inc. handled all entitlements and served as the design-build contractor for the major renovation of the 42,000-square-foot freestanding building located 2753 E. Eastland Center Drive. The West Covina location represents the 15th Ashley Furniture HomeStore to be completed by the Hodgdon Group. Hodgdon Realty Group represented Ashley Furniture in the lease negotiation with Cole Real Estate Investments of Phoenix, AZ.
Located at the intersection of N. Citrus Street and E. Woskmen Street, Eastland Center is a 805,000-square-foot retail power center anchored by a new Walmart Supercenter, Target, Burlington Coat Factory, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Bed Bath & Beyond, Marshalls, Old Navy, Ross, PetSmart and others. West Covina is located 20 miles east of downtown Los Angeles within the San Gabriel Valley area.
"The City of West Covina was very helpful in fast-tracking approvals to accommodate our very compressed construction schedule," said Aaron Hodgdon, President of Hodgdon Group. "We completed the interior demolition, build out and the construction of the new exterior facade in one of our fastest turnovers. We couldn't have accomplished this without a close working relationship with the city and the landlord, and an amazing construction team." Hodgdon Group's Dan Wallner served as Project Manager and Thom Duncan was the Senior Superintendent. KTGY Group of Irvine was the project architect.
Hodgdon Group is also handling the construction of the Ashley Furniture HomeStore in Montclair, Calif., in the former Border Books & Music building. KTGY Group is also the project architect for Montclair Ashley Furniture.
