PRZOOM - /newswire/ - Bangkok, Thailand, 2007/01/02 - Foreign exchange trading will debut on Tuesday in offshore markets, while local currency (Baht) trading and the Stock Exchange of Thailand to re-open Wednesday in Bangkok.

As Dec. 19, called Black Tuesday, recently sent out some warnings when the central bank initially imposed the withholding measure, which resulted in a 15% drop in the local bourse's SET Index, Analysts predict that we should not see similar panic.

"We'll see the baht weaken by at least 0.50-1 baht (per US dollar) in response to the bombs," states a foreign exchange dealer from a local bank.

Stock Exchange of Thailand Index may fall by around 20-30 points think few analysts.

Former Prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra yesterday reacted quickly and slammed the government for publicly holding previously powerful politicians to blame for the bombings over the New Year holidays.
''I swear that I have never even thought about hurting the public's happiness or destroying the country's credibility for any political gain,'' he wrote via recent fax report.

Thai Travel Agents Association (TTAA) said that so far no foreign tourists had cancelled their planned visits as a result of of New Year's Eve explosions, but government offices and private businesses may face cancellations upon recent events.
