ALi Corporation, a leading provider of set-top box (STB) system-on-chip (SoC) solutions, today announced that its advanced security cable Pay-TV STB SoC, M3281, will be demonstrated at ALi’s booth C12 at SCAT India 2012, India's largest exhibition for Indian Satellite & Cable TV Industry, taking place on November 3-5, 2012 in Mumbai.
The M3281 is ALi’s second generation advanced security SoC which has received major Tier 1 CA vendor certifications. It is targeted to provide the STB industry and cable operators with an ideal solution for content distribution at the highest level of security and optimal bill of materials (BOM) costs. Designed in a compact package size of 13x13mm, the ALi M3281 is a DVB-C SoC supporting J.83 Annex A/B/C and is integrated with QAM demodulator, standard definition MPEG2/H.264 decoder, TV encoder, and embedded CPU. M3281 is also equipped with a USB2.0 host, enabling support for secure time-shift and PVR functions. A SIP version of M3281 with DRAM and flash memory is also supported with various configurations.
The digitization of cable TV in India is being carried out in four phases with Phase I transition in four metropolises expiring on October 31, 2012 and nationwide roll-out to complete by December 31, 2014. Among the challenges that MSOs face in the process of digitization is the ability to, within the mandatory timeframe, provide subscribers affordable set-top boxes that deliver contents and services securely. ALi’s M3281 is exactly the ideal solution for MSOs with its CAS certification for advanced security, compelling cost structure translating to optimized revenue, and SoC total solution for fast lead time.

In addition to M3281, two of ALi’s HD advanced security solutions, M3603 DVB-S2 and M3713 DVB-C, will also be exhibited at SCAT India 2012 along with M3202C standard security platform for cable TV and M3105D DVB-S2 targeting free-to-air market.
