This year members will vote on 10 bylaw changes and the election of four Board directors.
Area III, Post I
William L. Brown of Montezuma, the incumbent, is running unopposed. This post represents Macon, Dooly and Sumter counties.
Area VI, Post III
Arthur Head of Warner Robins, the incumbent is running unopposed. This post represents the City of Warner Robins.
Area VII, Post I
Pat Braski of Warner Robins, the incumbent, is running against petition candidate Jack O. Davis, also of Warner Robins. This post represents the City of Warner Robins.
Area V, Post I
Leighton Cooley of Roberta, the incumbent, is running against petition candidate Charles M. “Charlie’ Westberry, also of Roberta. This post represents Crawford, Monroe and Upson counties.
All members will have the opportunity to cast their vote to elect a director to represent them on the Flint board. Ballots will be mailed October 2 and 3, and election results will be announced at the co-op’s 75th annual meeting on October 23.
“I encourage you to make your voice heard by voting in the co-op’s 2012 election,” said Bob Ray, Flint’s CEO. “Democratic member participation is one of the greatest advantages of a cooperative.”
As a not-for -profit cooperative, Flint Energies is owned and democratically controlled by its members, and guided by an elected board of directors. Board directors serve three-year terms and attend monthly meetings to guide policy and budget decisions for the electric cooperative.
Returning the ballot, which was mailed as a direct mail piece to each member’s home, qualifies members for the mail drawing prizes, according to Marian Douglas, Flint Energies Manager of Public Relations. Ballots should be returned to the ballot audit firm’s post office box in Macon by Oct. 22 to qualify for the mail-in prize drawing.
The first 1,200 attendees at the meeting will receive a special attendance gift and all attendees will also qualify for a prize drawing to be held just before the barbecue lunch that will be served at 12 noon. The top prize is a $1,500 Flint Energies shopping spree that can be used to pay a member’s electric bill or to purchase appliances at the Flint Appliance Center. Only Flint members are eligible for the grand prize drawing.
Entertainment for the morning will be provided by southern gospel group New Ground. The business meeting will include reports from the Chairman of the Board William Brown, financial and business reports, and a presentation by Chief Executive Officer Bob Ray. Members are asked to bring the Flint EMC Annual Meeting Attendee Voter Registration portion of their Official Notice with them to the meeting.
