Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance, Inc. (LRQA) is among the first certification bodies in Mexico to gain accreditation from the Mexican accreditation entity Entidad Mexicana de Acreditacion (ema) to ISO 17021:2011, the International Standards Organization (ISO) standard which defines the requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of management systems.
“This ISO 17021:2011 accreditation from ema demonstrates LRQA Mexico’s technical competency and capability to deliver independent third party certification of our clients’ management systems,” said Sergio Garza, Business Center Manager for LRQA Mexico. He added,“Being among the first certification bodies in Mexico is important for LRQA and mirrors our commitment to being a leading management systems assessment, certification and training organization, driven to provide our clients the ultimate in Business Assurance.”

Accreditation places rigorous requirements on audit and certification bodies, and an accreditation status is only awarded to certification bodies that demonstrate that they have been independently examined and approved by accreditation councils to assess companies in specific industry sectors to specific standards, schemes or directives. Accreditation proves that the certification body has the necessary professionalism and expertise to conduct assessments and gives additional confidence to the client being certified.
Beyond Mexico, LRQA (lrqa.com) has achieved ISO 17021:2011 accreditation in Brazil, India, and Indonesia from local accreditation bodies, with accreditation expected to be achieved in the USA and Canada in the coming weeks.
