Business4Word was created to gather industries and resources together to identify these obstacles, to make industries aware of the resources available that will help overcome these obstacles, and to create a plan of action that ensures your business can avail itself to the help and support necessary to attain its company goals.

To start the process toward progress, Business4Word is hosting an economic and workforce development conference to be held at the Embassy Suite Convention Center Greenville on Tuesday, June 5, 2012.
Every industry sector is needed to make this conference agenda successful. Business and industry leaders and private sector and government agencies that support economic development and provide services for workforce development are invited to bring their talents and resources to the symposium.
Conferences will be held throughout South Carolina over the next 12 months so that all business and resource organizations can have a voice at the table and contribute to the overall strengthening of the South Carolina economy. Other conferences will be held in Columbia, Florence, Charleston, and in the southwestern part of the state.
“This is a great opportunity for businesses to present the SC Department of Employment and Workforce with their workforce needs,” said Abraham J. Turner, executive director of DEW and a major sponsor of the conferences. “We are excited to be able to gain insight from businesses across the state and discuss ways we can collaborate in our continued efforts to put South Carolinians back to work and to improve the state’s overall economy.”
The Business4Word conference is a unique process led by a ‘professional facilitator’ in a Samoan Circle format. This process supports the development of solutions within industries and across industry lines by bringing all the right people in the business, industry, government, education and the nonprofit sectors, specific to the region, to the circle to ensure identified solutions are feasible and implemented.
After identifying obstacles/issues/concerns, and learning what resources are available to address these issues, business leaders will develop plans for implementation over the coming year that address the economic, financial, and workforce skills challenges encountered within their industry and across South Carolina.
