In partnership with Harvard University and Governor Deval Patrick’s office, the New England section of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) recently announced the annual Governor’s Cup Corporate Challenge. Organizations will form teams to compete for the Governor’s Cup and workplace bragging rights. Proceeds from the event will be split evenly between USTA New England 10 and Under Tennis grants and the charity of Governor Deval Patrick’s choice.
The tennis matches will be held on Saturday, June 2nd and continue into Sunday, June 3rd. For those who don’t win on Saturday, consolations matches will be played on Sunday along with the remaining matches. The cost per team is $300 and there is a minimum of three players per team. Teams may be comprised of men, women or both, but all players must be 18 years or older to participate.
“The Governor’s Cup Corporate Challenge is a great way for organizations to participate in collaborative competition while getting a workout and giving back to your community,” said Gary Pina, President of USTA New England. “We’re excited to partner with Governor Deval Patrick’s office and Harvard University and hope that this year’s success will lead to the continuation of this tournament next year.”
Matches will be played as eight game pro sets, meaning the first team to win eight games by a margin of two is the winner of the match. Each team will appoint one singles player and one doubles team, and substitutions before and after games are allowed.
The draw is limited to 32 teams, so make sure to register your team now!
