Williamsville, NY, United States, 2012/02/29 - Canterbury Woods, Western New York’s first Continuing Care Retirement Community, has earned a Five-Star overall rating in Medicare’s annual ranking of skilled nursing facilities as reported in U.S. News and World Report - its highest rating.

The Five-Star Quality Rating System was created to help consumers, their families, and caregivers compare nursing homes more easily. The ratings are provided for more than 15,500 nursing homes in all 50 states, based on three sources of data: health inspections, nurse staffing and medical care. These ratings are then combined to calculate an overall rating.
“More than 3 million Americans will spend part of 2012 in a nursing home, and trying to decide under pressure which one is best isn’t easy,” said Avery Comarow, Health Rankings Editor. “Top-rated nursing homes are worth considering and deserve special recognition.”
