Correcting adults’ poor vision with proper eyeglasses not only boosts quality of life, it may lower risks for depression, U.S. researchers report.
Researchers from the University of Alabama at Birmingham researched on a group of adults on the before and after results of wearing proper eyeglasses, and its effects on vision-related quality-of-life and depressive symptoms.
The research results showed that 100% of the adults who received proper eyeglasses showed an improvement in distance and near visual acuity. As a result, their involvement in hobbies such as reading, physical and social interaction also showed improvement, resulting in fewer depressive psychological symptoms.
