FutureDash™ Corp. announces today that the EnergyBuddy™ home energy monitoring system will be launched at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Jan 10-13 2012.
The core of EnergyBuddy is a low-cost and easy to install stylish gateway that connects to the home network. It operates with or without a smart meter and brings home energy consumption to life with vivid dashboards on PCs and mobile apps.
"We designed EnergyBuddy not only to be functional and help users save energy and money, but also to be a stylish addition to the home environment," said Kevin Strong, FutureDash CEO. "Historically, home energy management systems are passive and somewhat non-descript. EnergyBuddy changes that. In addition to delivering energy management dashboards on computing and mobile devices, it features a unique translucent top that glows with changing colors to give a simple and easily understood visual indication of energy consumption as it happens."
The EnergyBuddy gateway acts as an energy monitoring hub. It collects data in real-time from a current sensor and transmitter installed at the electrical panel for whole home readings. Individual appliances and circuits can be monitored and controlled from FutureDash provided or other compatible smart plugs. Energy information is relayed in real-time via the user’s home network or the Internet.
Homeowners can monitor and manage electricity consumption and view historical usage - at home or remotely - on a dashboard-style graphical user interface (GUI). Dashboards are accessible from PC web browsers, mobile apps for iPhone, iPad and Android platforms and on selected smart TVs.
"EnergyBuddy is revolutionary," said Allan Hundhausen, FutureDash CTO. "We have blended style with functionality to create an attractive, cost-effective and flexible system that can be placed anywhere in the home.” Depending on product options, it offers simultaneous support for up to four different wireless technologies, connection to the home LAN via WiFi or Ethernet, and also support for an unlimited number of smart plugs. Wireless support optionally includes ZigBee® for communication with smart meters and other third party ZigBee® energy sensing and control devices. EnergyBuddy will be available at an MSRP of sub-$100 for a basic kit consisting of gateway, current sensor and transmitter, or sub-$150 for the same kit with the addition of two wireless smart plugs. Other configurations, including ZigBee® support can be quoted.
EnergyBuddy also features GridLock™ encryption technology providing unparalleled data protection and guaranteeing privacy of sensitive home energy information.
