SUPERVALU, Inc. (NYSE: SVU) announced today that it has hired Rockville, MD based iControl Systems USA to implement a broad scale, strategic Scan Based Trading for SUPERVALU’s Direct Store Delivery (DSD) business. The iControl program will be implemented in this calendar year.
Scan based trading (SBT) is a key strategic initiative for SUPERVALU as it creates efficiencies in the receiving process, communicates daily sales data to vendors and allows the company to pay for product once it sells at the register.
“iControl is the right partner to serve the needs of SUPERVALU and our DSD vendors with Scan Based Trading applications,” said Tom Hagen, SUPERVALU’s director of strategic sourcing. “By deploying iControl’s DataTrue® system, SUPERVALU will be in a position to rapidly and significantly enhance our collaboration with DSD vendors, as we seek to further align our goals and interests: Serving the needs of our customers with the right products, in the right quantities, at the right place and time; growing profitable sales and reducing waste.”
“We are delighted to have the opportunity to implement our program at SUPERVALU, and to work with both SUPERVALU and its terrific DSD supply chain community,” said iControl’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Tal J. Zlotnitsky. “In today’s hyper competitive environment, committing to and deploying Collaborative Business Intelligence tools and services is the way winning retailers and suppliers separate from their less successful competitors. Working closely in an environment where KPIs are identified and aligned, iControl’s DataTrue® system and our analysts will help SUPERVALU and its DSD suppliers track, measure and react in ways that will turbocharge outcomes to the benefit of customers, SUPERVALU, and suppliers alike.”
