Join the American Society for Interior Designers, Texas Gulf Coast Chapter (ASID – TGCC) for the 2011 Kitchen and Bath Tour showcasing the talent of nine (9) Houston designers on November 5th from 10am to 5pm. The tour promises to showcase the latest advancements in kitchen and bath design concepts. Of the nine homes on the tour, is the Georgian inspired Rivers Oaks home located at 2909 Inwood Drive. Recently featured in the October 2011 issue of Luxe Magazine and designed by Houston interior design firm Laura U, the home boasts a bright yet functional kitchen and breakfast area as well as a luxurious master bath.
The concept for the kitchen design was based around the colorful Damien Hirst abstract painting,“Ellipticine”. The design team at Laura U incorporated elements of the clients’ favorite art work to create a bright, whimsical kitchen and breakfast area. The goal of this design concept was to inject whimsy and color into the space, while also creating a functional kitchen for a family of five. The kitchen features high-gloss Poggenpohl cabinetry, calacatta marble, Schenk hardwood floors in a herringbone pattern and Miele appliances. In the bathroom, guests will view custom vanities with mirrored fronts, sides and drawers that provide a focal point with Carrera marble tops that feature a double roman ogee edge profile and trim detail in Ralph Lauren Ambassador Sterling.
Tour goers who visit 2909 Inwood will be able to attend two design seminars: “Fine Rugs- Practical Applications” by Angel Rios of Hokanson Rugs & Carpet (11am-12pm) and “German Engineering and Functionality in Your Kitchen” by Cheryl Carpenter and Tatiana Bacci of Poggenpohl (2pm-3pm). Both presentations will feature light refreshments. In addition, Hokanson will be hosting a giveaway to one lucky tour guest for a custom 8x5 rug. Additional light refreshments throughout the day will be provided by House Sponsors: Audio Video Designs, Elegant Additions, and Lighting Unlimited.
This year, the 2011 ASID-TGCC tour committee (asidtgcc.org) teamed up with local companies like Westheimer Plumbing and Hardware who will host the official tour kickoff party on Friday, November 4th from 4-7pm, German brand cabinet manufacturer, Poggenpohl who will host the official tour closing party on November 5th from 5-7pm, Hokanson, Daltile, Spaceman Home & Office, Thorntree, Andrews & Hoye Landscape Designs and Silestone.
